a group of airplanes flying through a blue sky

Hi, I'm Sarah...

Since 2005, I've been on a journey of returning to myself — rediscovering who I am beneath the masks I've worn and the roles I've taken on, or been given.

It started at the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago, when I was burnt out and deeply unhappy in my investment banking job in New York. I sat on the floor of the observation deck for three hours, listening to music on my pink iPod, watching the planes carve jet streams across the sky. And in that moment, I knew — something inside wasn't right. Something was out of alignment. I didn't have the words for it yet, but I knew I had to leave New York. And more than that, I knew I had to leave finance.

It took five more months to get out. From there, I booked a one-way ticket to Buenos Aires — not sure where I was headed or what I'd do, but confident in my choice to wander, and to wonder. My travels took me through Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, and Kenya. And inside, the trip took me somewhere else entirely: a place of deep inner freedom, and the joy of choice and exploration.

I then settled in Switzerland with my boyfriend, and went on to marry and have three kids — adding two more roles to my life: wife, and mother.

It was only when my marriage ended — just before the pandemic hit — that I was given the chance to know what life looks like without those two labels. There was real pain in it: not just the marriage ending, but the dream that came with it, the picture of family I'd imagined for myself. And inside that pain, I also found something unexpected — the joy of time to myself, without my children by my side half of the time. Time that was just mine. Time to really delve into who I am without those two very heavy labels attached to me.

This very painful event opened the door to the biggest transformation of my life. As I slowly discovered who I was outside the framework of a traditional family, I opened myself to forgiveness — and self-forgiveness — to an exploration of spirituality, to a trip to Peru to explore another dimension of life through ayahuasca, and then to the most transformative tool and practice I've ever come across: Nonviolent Communication.

The name doesn't come close to capturing what this practice means to me. I see it as a tool for deep self-connection and self-knowledge — a way of connecting to the beauty of the needs underneath our actions and our emotions. It gave me the clarity to leave another relationship, and to enter into a truer one: a relationship with myself.

And yes — I'm in an intimate relationship with a partner now, but from a very different place. My primary relationship is with myself, and from that place, I choose connection with another. I choose myself first.

My journey continues. And these days, my deepest joy is walking alongside others doing the same — helping them come home to their own embodied truth.
